Pre-teach the concept of "homeland security" as it is practiced today. After viewing the film, discuss whether the students' ideas of the term have changed. How has the role of the military changed since WW2? Why? Compare homeland security measures then & now. Imagine what life must have been like as people braced themselves for an air attack. Ask students whether Canadians take the protection we now enjoy for granted, given the heroic acts pictured in the film. Have them write an essay or a speech explaining their point of view.
