Pre-teach the concept of “John Bull.” Research topics as extended activities for this film could include World War II and the toll on Britain’s citizens, industry, navy, shipyards, commerce, economy, landscape and overseas markets. Have students comment on the reasons why North American industry was seen as a threat to England’s future economy at the end of World War II. Have students comment on the tone of the film’s narration.
