Ice Birds

Ice Birds

| 15 min

Crystal Pillar, White Lady, The Whale--these are the names given by ice-climbing enthusiasts to the spectacular ice formations surrounding Quebec's Montmorency Falls. Ice Birds shows two experienced climbers scaling the breathtaking wall of the Crystal Pillar with precision and considerable daring, appearing from below as black spots on the vast landscape of one of nature's masterpieces. Film without words.

Education

Ages 12 to 16

Health/Personal Development - Safety and Injury Prevention
Physical Education - Outdoor Education
Physical Education - Safety/Fair Play/Leadership

Ice-climbing enthusiasts don’t use the same techniques as regular mountain climbers. Teachers and students will need at least one training session in class to prepare themselves before venturing outside and trying out an easily accessible surface. They will also need to be familiar with climbing terminology to communicate effectively, and learn basic safety rules to avoid accidents.
