This short documentary reveals the atrocities that occurred in German concentration camps during World War II. With images of suffering humans and mass graves, this film depicts the events that transpired under Hitler's rule and the condition of the prisoners when they were liberated by the Allied Forces.

This newsreel was produced by the NFB at the end of the Second World War and therefore does not convey the full scope of the atrocities committed during the Holocaust. It contains disturbing images. Viewer discretion is advised.

    Unfortunately, the naive perspective on the atrocities of WW2 featured in this film is still popular today. There was nothing inherently evil about the German people, nor the vast majority of perpetrators of state-sanctioned genocide(ex: Apartheid, Indonesian killings, etc., etc.). Perpetrators and architects of slaughter have been shown to be utterly convinced of the morality of their actions, which is why evil is not a useful way to think of people. It is better to attend to what causes people to do what is considered evil later.

    Amateur historian of 1st & 2nd World Wars. Rise of Germany. Wrong turn by Britain (appeasement). Churchill knew what was coming. No one listened to his warnings. Hitler could have been stopped cold before Germany had fully rearmed. No one wanted war, but if Churchill was in power at that time, he would have garnered all the necessary support needed (U.S., Canada, Australia, etc.) & literally crush Hitler & his Nazi regime during birth. Hitler was not prepared for war in early stages. It would have been over relatively quickly with Allied support. Churchill was a master of diplomacy. Of course, this is: what if?
