Have young people left traditional media behind… or are they the ones being ignored?
In the first edition of ON FILME, Mounir Kaddouri (@mairedelaval) explores the growing gap between Quebec’s cultural industry and Gen Z. Why are young people turning away from traditional media? And, more importantly, what do they want instead?
Through meetings, discussions and a range of perspectives from students and members of the cultural industry, this documentary challenges common assumptions about the “media crisis.” This is about more than funding: it’s about representation, relevance and making a genuine connection with audiences.
One thing is clear: young people haven’t abandoned Quebec culture. They’ve simply moved elsewhere—and they have a lot to say.
ON FILME is a YouTube-first documentary project, featuring three unique perspectives on issues facing the media landscape today. Films, exclusive interviews, and group discussions led by some of Quebec’s most influential voices. Join the discussion online.
