Narcisse Blood

A Blackfoot elder from the Kainai First Nation in Alberta, the late Narcisse Blood was a visionary activist, educator and storyteller. Also known as Ki'naksaapo'p, he directed Kainai Studies at Red Crow Community College and served on numerous Indigenous organizations, including the Blood Tribe Chief and Council. He was instrumental in the adoption of Alberta’s First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Act, Canada’s first repatriation legislation. His film credits include Round-Up (2010), made in collaboration with and produced by Gil Cardinal. A sequel of sorts to Circle of the Sun (1960) and Pete Standing Alone (1982),it revisits Standing Alone, now a respected elder and spiritual leader, reflecting on the experience of his people.
