Students consider Federal–Aboriginal interaction by researching and reporting
Innu and other existing land claims, including the Innu “New Dawn” agreement
of 2011. Students research and write brief biographies of Aboriginal leaders,
including Elizabeth “Tshaukuesh” Penashue (featured in the film). Oral
tradition: Each group chooses an Innu tale (e.g., that of Tshakapesh), any
other Aboriginal tale, or a tale from their childhood, whatever their culture;
students then represent the tale using dramatic enactment, puppets,
storytelling and drawing.
