Shannon Letandre

Shannon Letandre

Ojibwe/Cree filmmaker Shannon Letandre spent her early years on the Dauphin River First Nation, going on to study political science at the University of Winnipeg and film production at Concordia University in Montreal. With Nganawendaanan Nde’ing (I Keep Them in My Heart), produced through the First Stories initiative, she honours her grandfather and his traditional knowledge—cultural practices now at risk of disappearing. She pursues similar themes in Vistas: Trapper, one in a series of short films by Indigenous filmmakers on the subject of nationhood.
