The job applicant self-identifies in a hiring situation and this can generate discussions about perceived privileges for candidates when employers target hire. Despite an ingrained pride in multiculturalism, one’s ancestral roots and allegiances are often contentious when addressing issues regarding Canadian identity. Since Canada is comprised of many cultural groups, how does this practice strengthen our sense of nationhood? Or does this weaken our sense of who we are?
