- view excerpts of science-fiction films and address the improbabilities of spaceships making noise; find out how astronauts communicate;
- study the range of sounds perceived or produced by various animal, from whales (infrasound) to bats (ultrasound);
- experiment with resonant frequency by causing stemmed glasses filled with different amounts of water to vibrate; place the glasses in order so as to play an ascending scale.
