Ask students to choose their own sports role models and research their life stories. They will then introduce their role models in oral presentations, focusing upon how these individuals have overcome obstacles (for example, physical setbacks, socio-economic limitations or prejudice based on race or gender). As an extension of the assignment, have students create posters about their role models to display in the classroom or the school. Create a website incorporating all of the projects.
