Education

Ages 14 to 17
School subjects
Students will research accounts of the D-Day invasion of Normandy and compare the information in contemporary newspapers and modern textbooks with the first-hand accounts of participants and survivors. Then, playing the role of an eyewitness reporter, students will write a newspaper article about the invasion on D-Day. This activity can be extended to include an on-line publishing unit, or an art unit to re-create an authentic-looking period newspaper.
