Education

Ages 13 to 17
School subjects
Discuss forms of recreation that encourage protection of the environment, and those that encourage the development and exploitation of resources. Discuss the various methods of natural-resource extraction and their impact on the life forms that depend on the environments affected by these processes. Ask students to write a persuasive piece that argues for or against extracting oil from bituminous sands (tar sands) and to create an art piece that illustrates their argument.
