Born in Zagreb, Zlatko Grgić (June 21, 1931–October 4, 1988) was a Croatian film director and animator whose honours include nominations for the Short Film Palme d’Or at Cannes (The Musical Pig, 1966) and Best Animated Short at the Academy Awards (Dream Doll, 1979). Grgić directed and animated three films with the National Film Board of Canada: Hot Stuff (1971), Who Are We? (1974) and Deep Threat (1977). Animafest Zagreb – World Festival of Animated Films named an award after him: the Zlatko Grgić Award for “Best First Film Production Apart from Educational Institutions.” Grgić directed 11 animated shorts and 83 episodes for two animated television series, Professor Balthazar (1967–1978) and Maxi Cat (1971–1973).
