Born in Vancouver on unceded Coast Salish land, Kamala Todd is a community planner, cultural advisor and filmmaker of Métis/Cree and European descent. She’s an adjunct professor at UBC’s School of Community and Regional Planning and has taught at Simon Fraser University, Langara College and the Native Education College. As an Aboriginal Planner with the City of Vancouver, she created Storyscapes, aninitiative that supported Indigenous voices and stories. As a filmmaker, she has collaborated with the Chinese Canadian Historical Society, the Urban Native Youth Association and other community groups. Her credits include Indigenous Plant Divas (2008), Sharing Our Stories: The Vancouver Dialogue Projectand Nehiyawetan, a Cree-language educational series created by her mother, Loretta Todd.
