Regional music festivals have been a huge influence on the Fredericton music scene. The renown international Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival has been running for over 30 years and arguably has had the biggest impact on influencing local musicians for generations. The Capital Project is a documentary series that explores the thriving and eclectic music scene in Fredericton, New Brunswick, from 2017 until 2020. New Brunswick’s capital city may have a small population compared to other cities in Canada, but per capita it’s music community is arguably unmatched. The filmmakers interweave performances and interviews with musicians on a variety of subjects that explore Fredericton’s incredible local music scene in an expansive, exciting and educational 10 part series.
