Bobby Fischer Against the World

                                Bobby Fischer Against the World
| 1 h 32 min

This feature documentary tells the story of the rise and fall of the late Bobby Fischer, considered by many to be the world's greatest ever chess player. With rare archival footage and interviews with his inner circle, and set against his most celebrated victory over Russia's Boris Spassky at the height of the Cold War, we follow Bobby's stranger-than-fiction rise and fall: from child prodigy, to world chess champion and American icon at age 29, to reclusive fugitive haunted by paranoia and delusion. With this film, director Liz Garbus won the 2011 Newport Beach Film Festival award for Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking.
