75 Years A HISTORY of looking forward

NFB moment of the week

How many ways can you shake your eyes?

Find out from Richard Condie!

This absurdly hilarious short animation is just one of acclaimed animator Richard Condie’s many creations (Getting Started is another). Our protagonist in The Big Snit is caught in a global apocalypse, and yet he thinks it’s nothing more than a domestic quarrel. You’ll laugh and you’ll cry!

All in all, we've won seven of our 12 Oscars® for animated films. These exceptional films include the midlife meditation Bob's Birthday, the classic Norman McLaren film Neighbours, and our most recent Oscar®-winner, 2006's existential rumination The Danish Poet.

In the 1980s, the NFB’s Winnipeg animation studio garnered global attention as a centre of animation excellence, with such locally-produced NFB classics like Blowhard and Cordell Barker’s The Cat Came Back.

In fact, these particular parts of our history are only some of the many impressive milestones we’ve achieved over our 75 years. Check out this fun and enlightening infographic which illustrates a timeline of our most notable achievements.

Don’t forget to check back here every Monday for a brand new NFB Moment of the week, in which we’ll feature one of our many iconic films from the past 75 years.
