“We live about 50 km away from this site. It is called the Nikkei Internment Centre and is located in the village of New Denver, British Columbia. Please make a point of visiting if you are travelling in the West Kootenay region of BC. Whenever we have guests staying with us from other parts of Canada, we always take them there. It is a wonderful place to think, to reflect and to learn about our history. I learn something new each time I visit. There is also a wonderful, peaceful Japanese garden nearby, alongside beautiful Slocan Lake. ”
