Summary with teaching points

Based on a traditional folk tale, this animated short film tells the story of a poor couple who use three wishes carelessly and realize they should be thankful for what they have. Ask students what they would have wished for and what the consequences would be. Students can discuss and possibly debate the message of the film: “Be thankful for what you have.”  As well, there is an opportunity to research immigration patterns and the types of low-paying jobs that are accessed by many newcomers.
