Director Chris Landreth offers a synopsis of his new animated short, The Spine, and discusses his signature visual style: altering the bodies of his characters in order to make their psychological states visible. Landreth also explores the making of one crucial and challenging scene: a 25-second long shot in which the character of Dan literally grows a multi-coloured backbone.
