Students share their initial reactions to this film and ask if they've ever realized all the going-on's of a hospital and what it takes to make it tick. Students should compare hospitals from the late 19th century to now. What differences are noteworthy? How did Florence Nightingale make an impact? We take for granted the housekeeping staff in a hospital; society looks at this job in a negative way. What can we do as a society to show our appreciation? Have students volunteer in a hospital to observe various roles in a hospital. Invite a speaker into the class who is a hospital worker and is willing to share their job experience. Ask students to write in a journal if they've ever been to a hospital and stayed overnight. What was their care like? If they haven't been to the hospital, ask them to interview someone they know who has. Go to this website to find movies about health care
