At 73 years of age, David Suzuki, the iconic Canadian scientist, educator, broadcaster and activist, delivers what he describes as "a last lecture - a distillation of my life and thoughts, my legacy, what I want to say before I die."

Force of Nature: The David Suzuki Movie interweaves this lecture with scenes from Suzuki's life - the major social, scientific, cultural and political events of the past 70 years - and offers up a blueprint for sustainability and survival.

“I wish that Suzuki would have spent more time pointing out how we have catered to the auto industry and designed a world to service automobiles. I wish he would have emphasized years ago that it was imperative to stop this overuse of the automobile. He shows that our gov't spends almost $2 Billion in tax subsidies to the fossil fuel sector but he fails to show that the social costs of driving are almost $200 Billion. We have to live in a stressful environment with the noise of traffic and the toxic fumes. That exhaust goes straight into the faces of our little ones and our seniors choke on the fumes. I wish he would point out that it is not just carbon emissions : the spinoffs with the automobile are endless: filthy streets, lots and lots of parked cars, more and more pavement, habitats destroyed to make way for more roads and parking,2 car garages,drive-in fast food joints selling junk food, discourteous drivers, oil spills big and small, road kills, hospitals clogged with accident victims, over burdened emergency response, increased use of police for traffic surveillance,a million dollars a mile now to build a road, and on and on go the expenses. The #1 cause of death for our youth is from auto accidents. These are our Weapons of Mass Destruction. Yet, "environmentalists" continue to use them. Whether they are hybrids, or have lower fuel consumption, the social problems and costs will persist. How thankful I am for a snowstorm when I can enjoy a little peace and quiet and hear the sounds of nature. ”

“We ae really a force of Nature to be reconned with. The problem is we fight ourselves and in the long run we have a potentially scary outcome. Civilisation, Industrialization, lack of clean air and water, starvationect. extinction. We really have to look within ourselves and see what is it that I can do to make a difference. It is this collective that will make a difference. Tammy Lynne”
